The Media’s Suspicious Push for Canola Oil

Why are they urging us to consume it against our better judgment?

It was about 6 months ago now that I noticed a sudden surge of articles in Australian mainstream media all at the same time, and all pushing the same message: that canola oil (and other seed oils) is fine, “research” says it’s healthy, so basically why don’t you get over this idea that it’s bad and just start eating it, would you?

Now, I’m not the conspiracy type, but it does seem odd to me that suddenly across multiple media outlets, we’re being told to stop worrying about canola oil, how safe it is and that everything you see on social media about the dangers of it is overblown paranoia being pushed by influencers who lack credibility.

One article even featured a celebrity chef who deemed it unscientific to not consume canola oil. And then, went on to say that he uses vegetable oil in baking because it “feels” healthier than butter.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Even more bizarrely, the journalist laid out all the concerns people have with canola oil quite well, including the production process, but then proceeded not to address any of them, instead deflecting to various strawmen.
