I’m Stunned at How Shameless Some Parents Are
No, I’m not paying for your damn kid
We recently held a birthday party for my daughter. Two years of disruptions to such things thanks to that spicy cough meant that with the opportunity upon us again, we wanted to throw her a decent shebang that ensured she’d have the time of her life.
But of course, there’s always one entitled asshole who doesn’t understand social norms to take the shine off of things.
This entitled asshole would be the parent who brought along one of the invitee’s siblings. Now, this wouldn’t have been a huge issue if said parent had stuck to their original script: they were polite enough to ask if the sibling could come, noting that they’d cover food and game time for them.
Hey, no problem at all.
It didn’t quite go that way on the day though, because this parent kept hinting at the fact that her kids would have to share a game card and when one of the invited kids didn’t show, she had no problem ushering the sibling into the empty seat with a meal in front of it. She even had the hide to suggest that the sibling be included in the bowling that was already paid for as well.
Thankfully my wife, knowing what this parent is like, was having none of it and ensured the sibling didn’t get a game card…
