Ah yes, the elf that looks like a dude with pointy ears. Amazon Prime promotional image, fair use applies.

Everything Wrong With Amazon’s The Rings of Power

And not one of them is black elves

I’ve only attempted to watch this show once, and I turned it off within 15 minutes because the dialogue was so unbearable that I couldn’t take another minute. Since then, I’ve seen snippets of scenes on YouTube and I’ve jumped into specific parts of episodes out of curiosity (I wanted to see how they did Numenor) and my opinion of the show hasn’t improved.

In fact, it’s even worse than it was after those initial 15 minutes.

Forget about the black elves and dwarves that stirred up all the controversy, I didn’t even get to those parts. It sucks more than enough on its own that they are practically irrelevant at this point.

So here are all the reasons why this show, for me, is so utterly horrible, and why unless some big changes are made, this really will be a waste of a billion dollars for Amazon…

The writing is the worst I’ve ever seen

I don’t actually have enough words in my arsenal of adjectives to describe just how bad the writing is. The first fifteen minutes is a combination of pointless, cringe inducing and nonsensical all at the same time. The easiest way to describe it would be bad teen fan fiction.
