2019 Was the Year the World Went Insane

And we pretend like it didn’t happen now

To say a lot has happened over the last few years would probably be the wildest understatement of the century so far. And considering most of it began in 2020, you’re probably wondering what the hell I’m talking about in 2019, when the world was still full of optimism, business was good, people good afford things because inflation wasn’t rampant, and the only geopolitical boogeyman was China.

Well, it all started with three words…

How DARE you!

It was with those three words that a bratty teenager with a plait addressed the UN and the world, kicking off a series of events where she was invited to address the world’s most powerful and influential people about what we should do to save the environment.

Did she have any qualifications? No.

Was she a talented, precocious individual who had created some kind of breakthrough solution? No.

Was she someone who had been deeply affected by an indisputable climate related event? No.

Had she tried or achieved literally anything in the field? Nope.

This was a teenager from Sweden who grew up not just in a wealthy country but with wealthy parents. Yet she ranted and raved…
